Ethics Colloquium: Generative AI and Higher Education
Ethics, Opportunities, Emerging Applications
Generative AI and Higher Education | Slideshow
I was honored to present on generative artificial intelligence and higher education at the November 8th Provost’s Ethics Colloquium at Colorado State University. My keynote, "Generative AI and Higher Education: Ethics, Opportunities, and Emerging Applications," focused on the ethical use of AI in academia. I shared a tool I co-developed, which serves as a prompt and guide for using ChatGPT or similar AI as a personal ethics tutor, a resource particularly beneficial for students and faculty exploring ethical AI applications.
The event also included a panel discussion with CSU scholars including Tim Amidon, Meena Balgopal, Laura Sample-McMeeking, Wade Troxell, and Matthew Hickey as moderator where we delved into the varied applications of AI in addressing broad societal challenges. The discussion was an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas about AI's potential and the ethical considerations it raises across different disciplines. I was impressed by the engaging questions from the colloquium audience and the insightful perspectives offered by the CSU panelists.
You’ll find my slides shared above. A video recording of the event will be posted soon on the Colorado State University site: https://ethics.colostate.edu/speakers-and-events/
